Weather vane

Once again I find my self at the NDCC the North Devon cricket club. the famous umpire Dave Shepard affectionately known as Shep, lived locally and umpire many a game on the pitch.
the club voted to remember him with a wind vane in his likeness.
After a little research I found he was famous for raising his back foot while signalling with his finger that a player was out.
I think I managed to capture his distinctive stance and fat cap with this silhouette.

The hand cut silhouette from mild steel sit opposite a set of toppled stumps. the vane swings nicely on a single ball bearing. Above the tradition North, East, South, West.

galvanised and finished in black The weather vane now sits high on the ridge of the newly thatched roof  hopefully indicating the wind direction for many years to come.

My sincere thanks to North Devon cricket club for allowing me the opportunity to put my work on such a significant building.
