This hand-carved Corbel takes pride of place behind the bar of The Ancient Mariners pub in Lynmouth, North Devon. Carved from yellow pine (also know as Quebec pine) and salvaged from the roof timbers of the flour mills in Barry Docks, built somewhere around the turn of the last century.

If you ever get the chance to sit in the bar gazing across the Bristol Channel towards Wales take a moment to think of the sea fares that brought us this timber from across the Atlantic.

Hopefully, with this new lease of life, it will be around for another 100 years.
